Quick-start guide to using andante

1. What sections of the andante web site are free? What do I need to pay for?

andante's magazine, business directory and boutique sections are free, and do not require membership. You can also listen to andante radio without a membership. In order to access andante's reference, calendar, musicroom and web directory, you must become a paying member.

2. What are the software and hardware requirements for the andante site?

To use andante you need a computer, an Internet connection and, if you want to listen to music, a sound card. andante is compatible with web browser versions 5.0 and up. We recommend using Internet Explorer versions 5.0 and up, or Netscape Navigator versions 6.2 and up. We support Windows 98, 2000, NT and XP operating systems and Mac OS 8.6 and up.
Many sections of andante require the use of JavaScript and cookies. To learn how to enable them, check your browser's help screens.

3. What do I need to do in order to listen to andante's musical presentations?

In addition to an Internet connection and a computer equipped with a sound card, you will need Windows Media Player installed on your computer. andante uses these applications to transfer music over the Internet to your computer.

We are currently evaluating other methods for streaming and will allow users to use other players in the future.

5. Do I need any special equipment to enjoy andante?

If you have the minimal equipment described in question 2, you will be able to use andante without a problem. To enjoy andante to the fullest, we recommend that you use a high speed type connection (DSL, cable modem, T1) and connect your computer to a high-quality sound system.
